Hip Hop Kreyol here in the states is still struggling to bring people out. Of course I am aware of all the negative connotations affiliated with Hip Hop and its culture but when will people stop assuming and simply enjoy hip hop for what it is. I understand that the hip hop crowds are a bit different, it can get out of control but doesn’t that happen every where? One shouldn’t be afraid to attend a hip hop concert just because they assume it’s for thugs or vagabonds; it is a backward mentality, it is not going to help the movement progress.
This coming Sunday, the 29th of August, my label is hosting a show. It is entitled, “Rep Your City”, it is a concept of bringing different artists, from different cities, states or countries, to share their music with the people of South Florida. In truth, this is going to be the launching of a series of shows that RKM Recordz will be hosting for the next 15 months. The goal is to one day have our own festival in the heart of Miami and bring people out to cheer and appreciate these artists just like they do the Konpa or zouk or roots artists. I know it is going to take a long time but we didn’t come this far to give up.
Well, let me introduce you to the headliners of this event; it is scheduled to be one of the better shows out of Florida this year.
Mystik 703 straight out of Haiti, they will be representing with Haiti’s leading lady, Eud. Mystik just got back from their tour in Europe and they’re expected to bring the heat on Sunday. I have seen them perform live a few times and they are very talented and on stage, they put on a show.
Straight of Haiti again, we’re going into the Black Bandana camp with Dug G, one of the lead rappers from Rockfam Lame-a, depending on who you ask, they are one of the top 3 groups in Hip Hop Kreyol. Dug G will be performing a few solo tracks and also perform for the first time his latest single with Disip’s leading man, Gazman Couleur. So it is going to be very special.
The next duo is the money man, the leading money getter in Hip Hop Kreyol this year, straight out of Miami and France, it’s Mr. Nu lajan, Gato DaBato and Booba. They will be performing their hit “Nu Lajan” amongst a few other tracks.
Out of Palm Beach County, South Florida will get a chance to see Jr. Killa, Benny Blacko, and ZoeBlood. These fellaz are live and they’re going to bring a different flavor to the show. Killa and ZoeBlood both represents the RED BANDANA camp so it will be very exciting to see how they interact with the other side. PSB will also bless the mic, they are one of the better groups in the States; they are currently on tour in Haiti and should be back in the States this Friday. They’re a very good group.
Broward County will also have their representatives in Jay Bugg aka the Boss, Peter da Great and RKM’s leading lady, Stichiz. All three of those artists are packing heat so it will be exciting to see them on stage repping their hood
And down in Miami, No Outlet, Island Mixx, Young Fly, Energy Crew and Negg Ledd will come out to show support. Young Fly has been one of the hottest groups out of Miami this year and they have a lot of fans. So it will be good to see them on stage repping for the movement.
Brooklyn will also be represented at the show by 5Kob Penich, they are a group of talented rappers who have recently released their demo in Haiti and with their stock being on the rise, and they’re looking to make a name for themselves at the show. I have seen these guys live in NY and I assure you won’t be disappointed with their performance.
RKM Recordz will hold its end of the bargain and I am hoping the fans come out and show support. I know it’s on a Sunday, I know you have to work the next day, and I know it’s a recession out there. So now that I have listed all your excuses, I hope you find some time to come out because the show is going to get underway at 8pm, and by midnight you should be enjoying the final acts of the show. It is $10.00 if you log on www.rapkreyolmusic.com and purchase your ticket right now. If you need a table with a bottle, it is going to be $150.00 (tickets included) for up to 4 people.
Club indigo 7 is located in North Miami www.indigo7miami.com it is a very nice club with a good reputation. Miami Dade Police will be patrolling the place and we are going to take all measures necessary to prevent any fights or altercations.
We would like for people to come out and enjoy themselves. I know you will not be disappointed in the product; you just have to give it a try.
