The Hip Hop Kreyol movement has taken a hit since the terrible earthquake ravaged Haiti yet it hasn’t discouraged the artists from making quality music to please their fans and to also motivate the youth to see pass this unforeseen disaster and keep hopes alive. While speaking to the guys who were able to make it States side for a few months, I got the feeling that they were both happy and sad. Happy to have found a temporary relief yet sadden that they had to leave their family behind without any money, food or shelter.
We, in the States, are a lot more privileged than those in Haiti and therefore it is our duty to help and support if we’re able to. With that in mind, on Sunday August 29, 2010, at Indigo 7, a newly renovated night club in North Miami is opening its door to the first major Hip Hop Kreyol show this year. The show is being hosted by RKM Recordz and the theme for the night is “Rep Your City”; where different artists from different parts of the country will have a chance to perform and make a case as to who should be invited to the next event. It is scheduled to be a great showcase based on the line up that has been released.
Featured artists include Jr Killa, Zoe Blood, Benny Blacko, Zoe City, Peter da Great, Jay Bugg, Stichiz, Gato Da Bato, No Outlet, Young Fly, Energy Crew, Toobo and Zobyno Squad. Coming from out of town to perform at this event is 5Kob Penich, Mystik 703 who will be making their very appearance in the United States and Dug G, one of the front man from Rockfam Lame-a one of the better groups in the Haiti Kreyol Hip Hop movement.
